OVERVIEW

Sam Rowe played 10 senior games for Carlton in his debut season, after being recruited to the Blues with pick 44 in the 2011 National Draft.

The 25-year-old’s well-documented journey to AFL has been tougher than most, so it was with much excitement and anticipation that his family and team-mates watched on as Rowe ran out for the first time in Round 2 against Collingwood.

Rowe’s best game came in Round 16 against St Kilda, when the keeper of Carlton’s No.17 guernsey kicked three goals and finished with 12 disposals including six marks.

He capped the year with signing a new contract to keep him at the Club until the end of 2014.

THEY SAID IT

“He’s been unbelievable. For him to be back just playing footy is a great story, let alone to be playing at the highest level.”

“He never really got down on himself or down on the world. He is a remarkable person.”

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

Without doubt, making his debut in Round 2 was the highlight of the year for Rowe. After being sidelined for the 2012 season as he battled testicular cancer, Carlton’s humble big-man said he felt lucky and relieved to be running out at the MCG. In his opening game Rowe kicked a goal and finished the match with 11 possessions.
