The Blues have finalised their playing list for 2014, after using five selections in today’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Carlton used one selection to redraft 264-game veteran Heath Scotland, and another to officially draft Irishman Ciaran Sheehan, who was a standout in the recent International Rules Series in Ireland.

The Club used three further picks to select medium forwards Luke Reynolds and Blaine Johnson, along with ruckman Cameron Wood.

Meanwhile another Irishman, Ciaran “Casey” Byrne has been listed by Carlton as a Category B International Rookie.

Carlton’s National Recruiting Manager Shane Rogers says he’s excited by the new talent his team has secured.

“Luke Reynolds has a really wide arc, takes a really good mark and kicks goals,” Rogers said. “So we’re looking forward to him on our forward line.

“Blaine’s a jumping player who takes a good mark. He jumps up over the top of packs, but is also good at ground level and can go through the midfield – we assume he will probably play as a forward for us.

“Most people will know Cameron, he’s had a go before.

“With the dearth of ruckman we have at the footy club we needed to get a ruckman in. Cameron had a really good year at Williamstown and came fourth in their Best & Fairest.”

Jaryd Cachia will also remain on Carlton’s rookie list next season.
