Carlton CEO Steven Trigg has spoken at length about the Club’s new vision: Carlton’s Key Drivers of Success.

The strategic plan was unveiled late last month, detailing 10 key areas the Blues believe will take the Club to an era of sustained success.

Speaking on SEN, Trigg said while each of the key drivers are important, the first step is ensuring the entire football club is united.

“If you look at point one it’s about culture and it’s about unity, secondly it’s our list and third is that meaningful engagement backwards and forwards,” Trigg said.

“There’s one thing I know in footy after all these years, it’s that you must have unity at board, you must have unity at your management level and you must have complete congruence and alignment between the two of them – and you can tip into that your coaching group and players as well of course.

“Actions speak louder than words here, but from the minute I have walked in I have sensed a real deep-seated desire at board and management level to get that part right.”

Meanwhile Trigg has revealed that working at Carlton is everything he’d hoped it would be.

“There were other opportunities for me that had popped up previously, but the Carlton one really grabbed me,” Trigg said.

“Big club, big presence, great opportunity.

“Loved the club when I was a kid, spent a little bit of time here as a 16-17 year old, that’s not really the key decision maker, but it just appealed.

“In the first three months everything that I was hoping it would be it is – and there is lots of opportunity.”
