Carlton could have just 25 players available for selection for the final round of the season.

Sam Docherty has undergone hip surgery today after experiencing pain in recent weeks, while captain Marc Murphy has also had surgery on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in Round 21 against Melbourne.

Another joining Carlton’s injury list is Chris Yarran. Yarran left the ground injured in the final quarter against Greater Western Sydney and scans have revealed he has suffered a hamstring strain.

Meanwhile Head of Football Andrew McKay says David Ellard is also unlikely to line up against the Hawks.

“David Ellard was subbed out of the game against GWS after a head knock .. he’ll complete the relevant concussion tests this week,” McKay said.

“He had a concussion earlier on this year, which was quite significant as well, so we’ll obviously need to be very conservative with David.”

Better news for Andrew Carrazzo who is likely to return from a toe injury this week, while Dennis Armfield resumed training with the Northern Blues last Friday night as he continues to recover from a broke arm. However, given Armfield hasn’t played since Round 15 McKay says it’s unlikely he will line up this weekend.

With Chris Judd having retired and Lachie Henderson departed, it leaves the Blues with 25 players available if no one returns from injury.
