Carlton has secured speedy midfielder David Cuningham with pick 23 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

The Oakleigh Chargers player is known for his all-round athleticism and his ability to weave through traffic and break through packs.

At the AFL Draft Combine, Cuningham ran an impressive 2.91 seconds over the 20-metre sprint and was in the top five for the repeat sprints and vertical jump tests.

The 183cm midfielder also represented Vic Metro in the NAB AFL U18 Championships this year.

Carlton’s General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says Cuningham’s strength is his speed.

“David’s got the ability to burst away from stoppages and can quickly transfer the ball from inside the pack to the outside,” Silvagni said.

“On top if that he’s really clean with possessions and he’s a good decision maker.”

Welcome, David!
