It’s the day Blues fans have been waiting for.

Jack Silvagni will play for the club where his father Stephen and grandfather Serge became champions.

Carlton took the 17-year-old with pick 53 to secure the young forward’s services.

The Oakleigh Chargers product, who turns 18 in December, impressed during the NAB AFL U18 Championships, kicking six goals for Vic Metro in a game against WA.

With his father’s trademark courage, the 191cm utility has the ability to play up forward or down back.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay says Silvagni is a determined young player who consistently works hard.

“Jack’s got really good hands at ground level and in the air, and we really like his ability to mark the ball at its highest point,” McKay said.

“He’s a really good decision maker and has a great footy brain – he rarely wastes a possession.

“He obviously also comes from a good family,” McKay said with a grin.

Welcome, Jack!
