Carlton forward Jack Silvagni has agreed to a one-year contract extension, keeping him in the navy blue guernsey until at least the end of the 2018 season.

The grandson of Sergio and son of Stephen – both Legends of the Club – was recruited by the Blues as a father-son selection in the 2015 National Draft.

After consistent games in the VFL for the Northern Blues this year, the 18-year-old made his long-awaited debut in Round 15 against Collingwood at the MCG.

Silvagni said it was a dream come true to make his debut for the Carlton Football Club earlier this season.

“Pulling on the navy blue guernsey for that game was something I had always dreamed of and I can’t thank the Club enough for the opportunity,” Silvagni said.

“The coaches have been really clear on the areas of my game I need to continue to develop and I’m already looking forward to getting stuck into another pre-season with the rest of my teammates.”

Silvagni played eight games in his first year and kicked seven goals. His competitive spirit, tackling, and ferocity around the ball were standout traits of the young forward.

Head of Football Andrew McKay said the Club had been impressed with Silvagni’s development this year.

“Since arriving at the Blues, Jack has worked incredibly hard on the training track, his determination to improve as a player has been second to none,” McKay said.

“He earned his spot in the senior side this year after consistent performances in the VFL, so we’re pleased with his progress.

“Jack knows he has a long way to go but every time he pulls on the guernsey you know he’s going to give his all.”
