The Blues will turn to their baby Blues in their second JLT Community series hit-out on Saturday at Ikon Park against St Kilda.

Carlton star Patrick Cripps has been named for his first appearance in 2017, after suffering a stress reaction in his back in early November.

Meanwhile, exciting new Blues Cameron Polson, Tom Williamson and Harrison Macreadie are also in line to take to the field for the first time since arriving at the Club via the NAB AFL Draft at the end of last year.

Ed Curnow, Dennis Armfield and Dale Thomas headline the experienced Blues named in the extended squad, which will be reduced to 26 on Saturday.

Among those missing in the squad are Jack Silvagni, Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Kade Simpson, Matthew Kreuzer, Sam Docherty and Levi Casboult.

Earlier this week, coach Brendon Bolton flagged the importance of getting game time into the Blues’ youngest crop of players.

“This (JLT Series) is all about preparation for Round 1 for us. We’ll use the first few games to trial some things – give exposure to youngsters,” he told SEN.

"The main priorities are getting some minutes into our list and also not missing the opportunity to play some of our youngsters.”
