Carlton’s AFLW team will showcase its talents under the Friday night lights, following today’s release of the 2018 NAB AFL Women’s Fixture at Ikon Park.

The Blues will once again kick off the 2018 AFLW season against Collingwood at Ikon Park after the smashing success of the lock-out opener of the inaugural competition earlier this year.

Under Friday night lights, Carlton will travel to face GWS on Friday 9 February at Drummoyne Oval in Round 2, before the ‘Game Changers’ meet the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval in Round 4 on Friday 23 February.

Marquee recruit Tayla Harris will face off against her former side in Round 3, when Carlton and Brisbane go head-to-head in a Saturday night showdown at Ikon Park.

The Blues will face the reigning AFLW premiers in Round 5 in what will be a blockbuster Saturday night clash at Norwood Oval.

In a family-friendly Sunday afternoon time slot, Carlton will meet Melbourne at Ikon Park in Round 6, before travelling west to face the Dockers on Saturday 17 March at Fremantle Oval.

Head of Football Andrew McKay welcomed the release of the 2018 AFLW fixture.

“The inaugural AFLW opener at Ikon Park earlier this year was a resounding success and we’re delighted to be facing Collingwood again to kick-off the season in 2018 at our spiritual home,” McKay said.

“The support at that first game, and throughout the inaugural season, is something we’re keen to build on as we continue to grow women’s football in year two of this competition.

“Travelling to Sydney, Adelaide and Perth will also allow us to connect with our interstate supporter base, which is an important part of our fabric to help ensure a sense of belonging with all Carlton members and supporters.

“We look forward to seeing as many fans at Ikon Park in the early months of 2018 to support our Game Changers.”
