Carlton’s Tayla Harris has taken home two honours at the 2018 W Awards on Tuesday night – selection in the Virgin Australia AFLW All-Australian team, as well as the Woolworths ‘Mark of the Year’.

Harris was one of 40 players named in the initial All-Australian squad on Wednesday, with the final team of 21 selected by a decorated panel and announced this evening.

The now two-time AFLW All-Australian kicked five goals across six games this season, making an immediate impact for the Blues since her arrival from Brisbane during the 2017 trade period.

Averaging 10 disposals per game, as well as three marks, the 20-year-old made her presence felt throughout the year. Constantly putting her body on the line and crashing packs, Harris was one of Carlton’s most dangerous forwards.

Her goal of the year nomination came in the season opener against Collingwood, flying in between three pies to take a terrific contested grab in the goal square – resulting in her first major for the Blues.

It’s the second year in a row Carlton has claimed the Mark of the Year title, after small forward Darcy Vescio won the award in the competition’s inaugural season.

Harris beat fellow finalists Phoebe McWilliams (GWS) and Chelsea Randall (Adelaide) in the fan-voted award.

Congratulations, Tayla!
