CARLTON Football Club is delighted to announce AFL Women’s captain Brianna Davey, forward Darcy Vescio and the Club’s AFLW co-major partner MC Labour, have all re-signed with the Blues.

Putting pen to paper on a one-year contract extension, Carlton’s inaugural marquee players will remain bound by blue until at least the end of the 2019 season, while MC Labour has extended its partnership until the end of 2020.

Appointed captain earlier this year, Davey has become a vital piece of Carlton’s defence, controlling the backline and demonstrating leadership both on and off the field.

After rupturing her ACL in Round 2 against the Giants, the 2017 Best and Fairest winner continued to support her teammates from the sidelines, playing a key role during training and match days.

Since making her AFLW debut in the 2017 season opener against Collingwood at Ikon Park, Vescio hasn’t missed a game for the Blues.

As the League’s inaugural leading goalkicker, the 24-year-old evasive forward has booted 19 majors in 14 games and was awarded All Australian honours in 2017, as well as claiming the Mark of the Year.

AFLW senior coach Daniel Harford said he was thrilled to retain the duo’s services and praised MC Labour for its ongoing support of the AFLW team.

“We’re delighted Bri and Darcy have recommitted to the Club for the 2019 season, and I’d also like to thank MC Labour for its dedication to our women’s program,” Harford said.

“As the Blues’ inaugural marquee signings, both Bri and Darcy have played an integral role in establishing our AFLW program as well as the values within the team.

“Bri grew in her role as captain throughout the year, and despite being injured, she continued to have a positive influence on her teammates and upheld a club-first attitude.

“Darcy is a talented individual with a strong work ethic and her desire to keep improving as a player is a credit to her, so we’re rapt she’ll continue her career at Ikon Park.

“I’m sure our members and supporters will look forward to seeing both players back in action next year, as the AFLW competition enters its third season.”

Providing specialised labour hire to the construction industry, as well as traffic management solutions and security services, MC Labour has been significant supporters of Carlton’s AFLW program.

Backing the team since its inception, MC Labour will remain on the back of the Blues’ AFLW guernsey, and will continue to receive branding on the media backdrop and on all training and match-day apparel.

MC Labour Services Managing Director Marc Lunedei said the organisation was proud to extend its sponsorship of Carlton’s AFLW side.

“Just as the AFLW competition continues to grow, we are also driving to create opportunities and support women in a predominantly male-dominated construction industry,” Lunedei said.

“Like Darcy and Bri, MC Labour has been committed to the development of Carlton’s AFLW program and views this important partnership as a natural fit.”

CEO Cain Liddle said he was delighted MC Labour would remain as co-major partner of Carlton’s AFLW side.

“We’re delighted Marc and his wife Cath, along with their team at MC Labour, have recommitted to the Club and extended their partnership with our AFL Women’s program,” Liddle said.

“I know the players, coaches and the entire club greatly appreciate their support and loyalty as we embark on the third season of the AFLW competition.”

As announced last week, MC Labour’s commitment to the Carlton Football Club also extends to its community programs, signing on to become the major partner for Carlton Respects. Its branding will feature on the Club’s AFL media backdrop for the remainder of the season to reflect this partnership.
