PETER MAC CUP

Historically old enemies, Carlton and Collingwood will join forces this weekend to raise awareness for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.

The Blues and Pies will go head-to-head at the MCG this Sunday 24 June, with both teams vying for the Peter Mac Cup – Carlton currently holds the ledger with 14 wins.

Now in its 26th year, the Peter Mac Cup is the longest-running charity match in VFL/AFL history and since its inception in 1993, has raised more than $1 million for vital cancer research.

Peter Mac is one of the world’s leading cancer research, education and treatment centres, and is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to caring for people affected by cancer. For more information, click here.

MILESTONE: JACOB WEITERING

If selected, Jacob Weitering will play his 50th AFL game this weekend against Collingwood at the MCG. The 20-year-old was selected by the Blues with pick No. 1 in the 2015 national draft and made his debut the following year against Richmond in the Round 1 season opener. A 2016 Rising Star nominee, Weitering was awarded Carlton’s Best First Year Player in his debut season.

MILESTONE: DARCY LANG

If selected, Darcy Lang will record his 50th AFL game this Sunday when the Blues take on the Pies. Initially recruited to Geelong with pick No. 16 in the 2013 national draft, Lang played 44 games for the Cats after making his debut in Round 13, 2014 v St Kilda. Traded to the Blues at the end of 2017, Lang kicked two goals in his first senior appearance for Carlton in Round 8 against the Bombers.
