CARLTON defender Jacob Weitering was the only casualty from both the Blues’ AFL and VFL victories over the weekend.

The 20-year-old took a courageous mark in the final quarter of Saturday night’s win over the Gold Coast Suns, which resulted in a corked quad, but Head of Football Andrew McKay said he was likely to be available for selection this week.

“Jacob got that corked quad in the game from Saturday. He came off late and didn’t see the game out,” McKay said.

“He’ll be a test at the end of the week, but we’re hopeful he’ll get up.”

Having been sidelined for the past fortnight, ruckman Matthew Kreuzer (elevated heartbeat) remains a chance to return for Sunday’s Round 20 clash with GWS at Etihad Stadium.

“Matthew has been out for a couple of weeks now. He’ll be a test at the end of the week,” McKay said.

"We’re mindful that we need to build him up a bit slower, so we’ll need to get him through training this week and that’ll determine whether or not he’ll play this weekend."

Young midfielder David Cuningham (hamstring) has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season, having suffered a serious hamstring injury a number of weeks ago.

“David’s injury is a bit more severe than we first thought and he’ll now be out for the rest of the season with that hamstring injury,” McKay said.

Both Jesse Glass-McCasker (knee) and Cillian McDaid (foot) will be in line to make a return through the VFL within the fortnight as they overcome their respective injuries.

“Jesse has been managing that MCL injury (medial cruciate ligament) and has been out for quite sometime. He’s still another week or so away and we’ll test him at the end of next week,” McKay said.

“Cillian is making some good progress with that foot injury too, and he will be another week or so away from a return to play.”

Meanwhile, McKay revealed it would be touch-and-go for speedster Kym Lebois to make his return to the field by season’s end as he manages a hamstring injury.

“Kym hurt his hamstring a couple of weeks ago. It’sa progressing okay, but he’s still likely to be another four weeks away so we’ll see how he goes,” McKay said.
