The 2018 NAB AFL Women’s Draft will be held at Marvel Stadium on Tuesday 23 October, as announced by the AFL on Wednesday afternoon.

Beginning at 12pm, this will mark the third AFLW draft since the League’s inception in 2016.

The Blues head to the draft with six selections in total, armed with picks 3, 16, 27, 38, 48 and 49.

Last year the Blues recruited young gun Georgia Gee with its first selection, followed by midfielder Sophie Li, Reni Hicks and Bridie Kennedy.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said the future stars of the game will be named at the NAB AFLW Draft.

“Two players selected in the first round of the 2017 Draft went on to make an immediate impact in the competition. Collingwood’s Chloe Molloy was the 2018 NAB AFLW Rising Star while the Western Bulldogs’ Monique Conti was best on ground in the grand final,” Livingstone said.

“The standard of the recent NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships was very high and I can’t wait to see the best young talent playing in the AFLW next year.”

The NAB AFLW Draft is state-based, with players nominating which state they wish to play in. The draft will be streamed live on afl.com.au, the AFL Live app and the AFLW app.

Carlton also revealed on Wednesday it signed Chloe Dalton and Brooke Walker as rookies for the 2019 AFLW season, after the pair showcased their talents for the Blues’ VFLW side this season.
