SKIPPER Bri Davey is confident the Blues will bounce back from their Round 1 loss to North Melbourne.

With a line-up that featured six debutants, the 24-year-old said as the side continued to work hard and gel, improvement would come.

“There were some really positive signs from some of those girls,” Davey said.

“Jess Edwards kicked the first goal after running with Emma Kearney for a long time, keeping her quiet in that first quarter. From our debutants we had positive signs but again it was hindered by a disappointing result.”

Returning to her first AFLW match following since recovering from an ACL injury, Davey featured in the forward-line, booting a major for her side.

She said she embraced whichever position the team required her to play.

“It is always nice to be able to get back out there with the girls and hit the track,” she said.

“Moving up forward, it’s different to it has been in the past and it’s a learning curve for me, but I’m looking to play whatever role the team need me in. If it’s up front, it’s up front. If it’s in the backline, it’s in the backline. If it’s in the midfield, it’s in the midfield.

“I’m trying to find my feet and get into the groove of it, but it’s something a bit new to me.”

Carlton will begin its preparations for a home clash against Adelaide on Sunday.

Davey said the coaches’ message for the team as they head into Round 2 had been simple.

“To be physical and really attack the game. Going back to that physicality thing, we just didn’t quite bring that on Sunday," she said.

“We’re looking to bounce back from the match. We’ll be coming back firing next round.”

The Game Changers will play Adelaide at Ikon Park from 4.05pm on Sunday.
