THIS weekend could mark the long-awaited return of Carlton big man Matthew Kreuzer.

Kreuzer is one of four players who have been named in the extended squad for Carlton, alongside Matthew Kennedy, Cameron Polson, Jack Silvagni and youngster Angus Schumacher.

All four have been named on the extended interchange bench, which will be cut down to the final team of 22 on Friday at 5pm.

Kreuzer missed the first four rounds of 2019 while recovering from surgery to his knee during the pre-season.

The dynamic ruckman was impactful in his VFL return for the Northern Blues last weekend, collecting 15 disposals and a goal.

Before the Blues confirm his selection on Sunday, Kreuzer will need to fulfil his training requirements for the remainder of the week.

Angus Schumacher has also been named in the extended squad for what could potentially be his debut in the Navy Blue.

Selected with pick No.70 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, Schumacher has been biding his time in the VFL but may get the chance at senior level this weekend.

Silvagni could return to the side after starring for the Northern Blues last week, while Kennedy and Polson are named on the extended bench after missing the clash with the Suns.

Mitch McGovern and Sam Walsh have been named for selection after recovering from slight injury knocks from the Round 4 game.

Will Setterfield will miss the Round 5 clash as part of his two-match suspension handed down by the Match Review Officer.

Sunday’s game begins at 1:10pm from Marvel Stadium.
