Patty's perfect performance

R12 | Cripps' lionhearted performance Carlton skipper Patrick Cripps led from the front in the Round 12 win over Brisbane.

NO surprises here.

Patrick Cripps has received the maximum amount of votes from the coaches on the weekend for what was arguably the best individual performance of the season.

Moving within six votes of leader Tim Kelly, Cripps’ numbers from the weekend said it all.

The captain accumulated 38 disposals, eight clearances, seven tackles and four second-half goals to will his side to a comeback victory over the Brisbane Lions.

Cripps wasn’t alone, with four teammates joining him amongst the votes.

Youngsters Sam Walsh (32 disposals) and Jacob Weitering (16 disposals, nine marks) both polled six votes each after playing leading roles in the 15-point triumph.

Not far behind them was Ed Curnow, who combined a brilliant second-half shutdown role on Lachie Neale with 30 disposals of his own.

Michael Gibbons also featured for the first time in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, polling the solitary votes for his game which saw him collect a career-high 23 disposals to go with two goals.
