THE Carlton faithful will get its first glimpse at mid-season rookie acquisition Josh Deluca this weekend.

The Western Australian is set to make his VFL debut on Saturday, having sat out his first month at the Blues with a pre-existing hamstring injury.

The four-time premiership player will be a welcome addition to the Blues’ midfield stocks, with his imminent return to mark his first game at his new club of any kind.

Director of High Performance Andrew Russell was pleased to see the new Blue training at full strength.

“Josh Deluca came to the Club with a low-grade hamstring and settled down really well,” Russell said.

“He has trained the last two weeks: it’ll be exciting to see him playing this week.”

The news is also positive for first-year Blue Liam Stocker, with Russell confirming the youngster is progressing well in his return from a foot injury.

The impressive youngster played five consecutive games at senior level, before being sidelined with the injury after Round 11.

While Stocker is not expected to make his return to senior football for a few weeks, the prognosis is encouraging.

“Liam Stocker’s foot is settling down really well,” he said.

“He’s back out running again which is great – we don’t expect him to be playing for the next two weeks, but after that we should see him out there.”
