SKIPPER Patrick Cripps will miss the trip west when Carlton takes on Fremantle at Optus Stadium this Sunday.

The co-captain will be sidelined for the Blues’ second game at Optus Stadium, as he recovers from a sprained foot sustained during Carlton’s Round 13 defeat to the Western Bulldogs.

Cripps is expected to miss the next one to two weeks with the injury that has not settled despite last week’s bye.

Harry McKay will also sidelined for Carlton’s fifth interstate trip of the season, with groin soreness set to see McKay sidelined for a similar period to the captain.

In his absence, Charlie Curnow and Mitch McGovern will be the key targets up forward as the two injuries leave the room for opportunity for Carlton’s six inclusions to the 26-man squad.

In a boost for the Blues, Liam Jones has been named on the extended bench in what would be his first showing since Round 7 if selected.

The dependable Blue has missed the last six rounds with residual concussion symptoms after a head clash during Carlton’s Round 7 loss to North Melbourne.

Joining Jones as the inclusions to the extended bench are Matthew Kennedy, Darcy Lang, Andrew Phillips and potential club debutant Hugh Goddard.
