BLOODY awesome.

With a first game, goal and win in Navy Blue, that was the only way Josh Deluca could describe his Saturday.

The mid-season rookie recruit produced the moment of the match in the 24-point win, when his set shot sailed through in the third quarter.

Speaking post-match, Deluca said the thrill of the goal and the win was something he wouldn’t forget.

“You always like to get a goal in your first game,” Deluca said.

“It bent back, I don’t know how it went in but I’ll take it.

“The crowd go crazy and it was really loud in there with the roof closed. I really appreciate the support from the supporters, they were great.”

The post-goal scenes will live with  Deluca for a while, with every single one of his new teammates coming around to celebrate with the new Blue.

The game itself was a dream once again realised for Deluca, who had to wait nearly two years to return to the AFL stage after being delisted by Fremantle in 2017.

The-23-year-old conceded that the way in which Saturday panned out was something he couldn’t have expected.

“If you had have told me this six months ago, I wouldn’t have thought it would be happening,” he said.

“I was so grateful to be out there and the boys did a really good job.

“We got to finish the game off well and I’m so happy we got the win.”
