LIAM Jones has been ruled out of the remaining two games of the season after suffering a non-displaced fracture of the larynx in his throat.

The injury occurred during yesterday’s clash against Richmond, with Jones reporting discomfort in the rooms after the game.

After spending Sunday night in hospital, a consultation with a specialist confirmed the extent of the injury that will see the 28-year-old miss the final two games. He will not require surgery.

“It is disappointing for Jonesy that he won’t be able to finish off what has been an outstanding individual season for him,” Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said.

“Jonesy and our backline group have formed a really strong bond throughout the year – one that will continue to grow with another full pre-season.

“We wish Jonesy a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back and fully fit for day one of pre-season training.”
