CARLTON senior coach David Teague is eager to get the most out of his Blues before the season is out.

The Blues will head down the highway to face the second placed Cats on their home deck at GMHBA Stadium this Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to media on Friday morning Teague was keen to maintain the intensity among the playing group in the final round of the season.

“We’ve got 120 minutes of football to continue to get better. We’re looking forward to the challenge and we want to finish strongly,” Teague said.

“We look forward to the challenge of playing against a good side but, for us, it’s about getting better.

“We get the chance to play against a quality opposition and challenge ourselves and see how far we can go.”

Saturday will be the first time these two sides have met in 2019, the Cats getting the better of the Blues at GMHBA Stadium the last time they met in Round 10 of 2018.

A more confident outfit over the last two months, Teague was hesitant to compare last year’s side to that of the upcoming clash.

“We played there last year, so they understand it. It’s another game of footy, there are four posts at each end,” he said of the home ground advantage.

“We look forward to playing anywhere, anytime kind of mentality. We love playing against the best, and Geelong are a good football team and we look forward to it.”

One of the Cat’s key strengths over their strong 2019 campaign has been their ability to create a fortress in defence.

Teague highlighted Geelong’s backline as a challenge heading into the clash, backing in Carlton’s young forward group to rise to the occasion.

“They hold their defence really well and they’ve got a mature group down there, so that’s going to be a real challenge for us,” he said.

“I thought our ball movement on the weekend was the best it’s been. We didn’t finish our plays going inside 50s, but our ability to move it from one end of the field to the other was probably the best we’ve done it so far this year.”
