OVERVIEW

With everything said and done in season 2019, Jack Silvagni ended the year as one of Carlton’s most-improved players.

On the back of his work ethic and a solid pre-season, Silvagni was rewarded with strong VFL form and didn’t let the opportunity slip at senior level.

Recalled into the senior side in Round 5, Silvagni missed just one of the final 18 games of the season, displaying his football smarts while also ranking as Carlton’s No.1 pressure player for tackles inside 50.

With stints in the midfield to go with his 13 goals for the season, it was a year of significant growth for Silvagni. The third-generation Blue ultimately committed to the Club he loves for the next two seasons.

BEST PERFORMANCE

It was a best-on-ground performance when Silvagni starred against Melbourne in Round 16.

In a game where the Blues threatened the most unlikely of comebacks in the final term, a four-quarter performance from Silvagni kept his side in the game.

In the midfield and up forward, Silvagni was clearly Carlton’s standout player as he finished with 18 disposals, 10 marks and three goals. It was the best performance of his 60-game career so far.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

A week prior to that performance against Melbourne, Silvagni performed a big role in the win over Fremantle. And there was no bigger moment than early in the last quarter.

With Fremantle kicking the first five goals of the game, Silvagni made the move onto danger man Nat Fyfe in the middle. The move worked, with the 21-year-old providing Carlton with a big moment in the final term.

Taking a mark in the final term, Silvagni - stationed just inside the boundary line - produced a clutch set shot to give the Blues a surge.

It proved vital as Carlton came away with a four-point win in the West.

THEY SAID IT

The man himself spoke of his unwavering desire to achieve team success at his boyhood club on the eve of his 50th game.

“I’m not going to lie, the first 50 games have been quite the rollercoaster,” Silvagni said.

“But every low point only makes myself and the team even more focused to see the Club I love enjoy success.
