Casboult transformed his game in 2019, playing every game from Round 3 and excelling as Carlton’s newest swingman.

He averaged career-high numbers in disposals, contested possessions, marks and hitouts in what was his best season since his debut in 2012.

Bluebaggers would be loving what they’re seeing from Casboult, who was able to make his contested marking prowess as well as his booming kick features of his game all over the ground.

BEST PERFORMANCE

Casboult built up to his standout performance in Round 22 with a solid performance against Adelaide up forward, after spending stints in the back half midway through the season.

However, it was against St Kilda where Casboult really stamped his dominance on the game, earning a perfect 10 in the AFL Coaches’ votes.

The 29-year-old recorded career-high numbers in disposals (20) and kicks (14), helping the Blues secure a 10-point win in front of a raucous crowd at the MCG.

To add to that, Casboult took the second-most intercept marks (nine) since the stat was first recorded.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

After kicking two goals in a big second quarter against Adelaide, Casboult made sure his third got Bluebaggers out of their seats.

After getting a hitout in the ruck from a boundary throw-in, Casboult ran back to Carlton’s forward 50, received a handball from Matt Kennedy and bent his flying shot back perfectly from the arc.

This goal gave the Blues a 22-point lead in the third quarter, getting the second half off to a blistering start in what was a stirring win over the Crows.

THEY SAID IT

Speaking on The Two Tones podcast, Casboult said his transformation in 2019 had come on the back of an "eye-opening" moment 12 months ago.

"Getting dropped last year... I had a lot of self-reflection around what I want to get out of playing footy," Casboult said.

“When you strip it all back, footy is fun. Win, lose or draw.

“Coming through as a kid, being a Carlton supporter — I loved playing footy every week and getting the opportunity to go out and play.”
