MITCH McGovern couldn’t have been higher in his praise for a key forward partner and his Senior Coach.

Speaking to ABC WA on the weekend, McGovern was quizzed about his thoughts on Levi Casboult and David Teague.

McGovern has gotten to know Casboult very well since arriving at Carlton in October 2018, while his previous working relationship with Teague began at Adelaide.

Starting with Casboult, McGovern said the esteem he is held in throughout the playing group couldn’t be understated.

One quote summed it all up.

“I think if you ask any of the players at the footy club, they’ll almost go out and die for Levi,” McGovern said.

“He’s one of the best blokes we have at the footy club: I couldn’t speak higher of him.

“His footy value for us, he’s worth his weight in gold… you can’t replace someone like him.”

Casboult endeared himself more than ever to the Carlton faithful in 2019, stemming from an outstanding run of form in the second half of the season under Teague.

Getting to know Teague well when he was his direct line coach at West Lakes, McGovern said the Senior Coach’s personable approach was his main asset over anything else.

Personally, McGovern has loved seeing what “one os [his] best mates” has brought to the table in his first full pre-season.

“He’s so caring and kind in everything that he does. It’s still been shown the whole way through, even in this tough period we’ve had,” he said.

“He’s been reaching out to everyone and been so polite and kind with everything that he’s done. That’s the biggest thing for me.”

McGovern said that Teague’s approach to his game style at Ikon Park was all about pleasing the fans, and it’s something he constantly drives home to the players.

“He wants to fans to be excited and to be happy and to be supporting the Club with the brand that we’re playing,” he said.

“That relates to winning as well. I would say exciting footy… that’s the simplest way I can put it.”
