Carlton President, Stephen Kernahan has confirmed Brett Ratten’s contract had been extended.

Speaking at the Carlton Football Club’s Annual General Meeting, Mr. Kernahan told Members that Ratten’s contract had been extended until the end of the 2011 season.

“It gives me great pleasure to confirm that the Board has extended Brett’s contract for a further two years,” Mr. Kernahan said

One of Carlton’s favourite sons, Ratten moved back to the Blues as an assistant coach in 2007 and was installed as the interim senior coach prior to round 17. He was appointed to the position of senior coach later in the season.

Brett Ratten played 255 AFL games for Carlton between 1990 and 2003. He was a member of the 1995 Carlton premiership side, the year in which he won the first of three Club Best & Fairest Awards.

Brett was Captain of the Carlton Football Club in 2002 and in 2003 until his retirement during the season.

In 2004, his first year out of playing the game, Brett was an Assistant Coach at Melbourne. The following year he coached the VCFL representative side and in 2006 he coached Norwood to the Grand Final in the Eastern District Football League.
