‘I’M 100 per cent committed and I’ll do it to the best of my ability.”

Five weeks after nominating Carlton as his club of choice, Adam Saad officially arrived in the Navy Blue at Ikon Park on Thursday.

With the state of the list and his opportunities across half back seen as key reasons for his decision, Saad said the choice to become a Blue was in the best interest of him and his family.

Speaking to media from his new home, Saad was brought in to improve Carlton immediately in 2021.

“Where the club is heading, they’re entering an exciting phase and I felt like I could get to the club, improve myself as a player and add to the team,” Saad said.

“At the end of the day, sometimes you’ve got to make big decisions for what’s best for yourself and your family. Family is so important to me.

“I felt like a fresh start and a new challenge was something I needed to do at this time in my career. I’m just really grateful.”

It was in the opening week of October when Saad informed the Blues of his intentions to join the club, with a deal taking place on the penultimate day of Trade Period.

Saad said he was determined to be a Blue for 2021 and beyond after going through the process and deeming the Blues the best fit.

“Once I made the decision, there was no turning back: I was fully committed to the Carlton Football Club,” he said.

“You go through the process. I took my time, weighed up everything and assessed everything.”

He also believed that Carlton’s membership department was going to receive an uptick in business in the coming weeks from his family alone.

“I’ve got 70 first cousins, so you can add 70 [memberships] there. My wider family, I’m trying to add in my head now — probably 200-300,” he said.

“I’d be pretty disappointed if they don’t sign up and support the Club. I’ve got a lot of relatives who support Carlton which is good.”
