“WE FEEL we can win these games of footy, but we’ve just got to get it done.”

Carlton isn’t shying away from the disappointing results of recent weeks, according to Head of Football Brad Lloyd.

After returning to the winner’s list against Hawthorn, the Blues found themselves in a strong position in the early going against Sydney.

However, a fast start in an up-and-down game was ultimately overturned, with the Swans overpowering the Blues on the way to a 22-point loss for the visitors.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Lloyd said the Blues were no looking taking the positives out of simply being competitive.

“When you’re building as a team, you take a bit out of it — but we don’t anymore, because it has happened so often and we have been in games for so long,” Lloyd said.

“There’s still plenty of footy ahead, but we’re disappointed with how we’ve gone so far. We need to improve.

“Defending turnover and our ball use could improve as well: they’re the areas we’re going pretty hard on behind the scenes with the playing group and coaching staff. We’ll keep doing that until we get it right.”

While the weekend’s loss put the Blues back in the pack, Lloyd said it was nowhere near time to make adjustments on what the Club wanted to achieve this season.

Ahead of upcoming clash with West Coast, Lloyd believed the Blues needed to restrict the errors in their game and start to get the wins column ticking over.

“We’ve got a lot of winnable games coming up. We’ve been in games against the top sides and we’ve been in the majority of games throughout the year,” he said.

“We feel we can win these games of footy, but we’ve just got to get it done.

“Good teams get it right more often than not. We’ve got to keep building our list and building our durability as well.

“[2021 expectations] is not as big of a concern right now, we’ve just got to get our act together for this weekend.”
