THE Carlton Football Club can confirm that forward Harry McKay has suffered a lateral meniscus tear in his knee.

The 24-year-old reported some soreness after the game on Sunday, with scans confirming the injury.

McKay sought further consultation with a surgeon today, which confirmed he will undergo an operation tomorrow morning to correct the injury.

He is expected to be sidelined for at least the next six weeks.

“This news is obviously unfortunate for Harry, given the really strong start to the season he was having both personally and as a leader for our side,” Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said.

“Harry will have the surgery tomorrow morning, he’s the ultimate professional so will attack his rehab to be in a position to make an impact when he returns to the side, which at this stage we expect to be around three weeks after the bye.”

The Club can also confirm defender Luke Parks is set for an extended stint on the sidelines.

A mid-foot injury was detected with the 21-year-old last week, which after further investigation has been diagnosed as a bone stress injury, sidelining the defender for the next 12 weeks.

“We had hoped for a better outcome with Luke but unfortunately we will be without him for an extended period of time,” Lloyd said.

“He is a great character, so we know he’ll put everything he can into getting himself fit and available late in the season.”
