Nic Newman is a club-first player through and through – being awarded the ‘Best Clubman’ award three out of four years.
Joining from the Swans in the 2019 off-season, the 31-year-old has been a determined defender for the Blues ever since.
Newman's impact also spread away from the field, having spent time coaching both the AFL and AFLW programs - building a connection that spans across the Club.
A consistent half-back flanker, Newman keeps his eye on the ball, while organising his teammates in the back half for any incoming possession.
Moving the ball cleverly and using his physicality to force turnovers, Newman is an all-rounder who can get things moving down the wing.
For the first time in his career, Newman had a top-10 placing in a best-and-fairest count at the age of 30, finishing runner-up in the 2023 John Nicholls medal to teammate and fellow defender Jacob Weitering.
