KADE Simpson will not run out against the Lions at The Gabba today, having been withdrawn because of a tight calf.

The Club has decided not to take any risks with the evergreen defender, with 50-gamer Darcy Lang his replacement.

The Blues have made a total of five changes from the side which lost to Port Adelaide by 21 points last weekend.

Returning defender Caleb Marchbank is a confirmed starter. Today will be his first game back since Round 6. He is joined by Matthew Kreuzer, Dale Thomas, Lochie O’Brien and Lang as Carlton’s inclusions for Round 16.

The quintet comes in at the expense of Paddy Dow (managed), Jarrod Garlett (ankle), Levi Casboult (omitted), Aaron Mullett (omitted) and Simpson (calf tightness).

Simpson has had a run of 72 consecutive games stretching back to Round 8, 2015.

Sam Petrevski-Seton, O’Brien, Matthew Kennedy and Nick Graham will start on the bench today for the Blues.

Carlton will wear its navy blue guernsey with white shorts in today’s away game.

The bounce will be at 1.45pm, with all the action live on FOX Footy. Be sure to also follow live match updates on Twitter.
