Dillon Viojo-Rainbow may have an eye-catching name, but it was his versatility and penetrating kick that caught the eye of Carlton's recruiters.

The 18-year-old, who was selected by the Blues at pick 28 during Thursday night's NAB AFL Draft, says his first day at Visy Park has been an eye-opener.

"You're sort of star-struck – you walk in and see Gibsy, Juddy and Murphy walking around,” Viojo-Rainbow said.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet. Once you get out on the track with all the boys and mingle with them, it starts to sink in."

The left-footer hopes his versatility around the ground will go in his favour come next year.

"I've been mixed around lately," Viojo-Rainbow said.

"I sort of play off half-back, (I've) cemented a spot there, so I love going for the aerial ball.

"I'm not afraid of taking the game on with my kicking and that's what sets me apart from other players within this year's draft."
