Carlton's final training session for 2014 is done and dusted.

Hundreds of supporters made their way to Visy Park on Monday, to witness the Blues train in the heat.

With Christmas only a few days away, coach Mick Malthouse says he has encouraged his players to be selfless during this time.

"As I said to my playing group: we are takers,” Malthouse said.

"If they're (the players) injured, they want exclusive treatment from the physio's, doctors and so forth – it’s not a selfish thing that they purposely go out and get.

"As I say – it's a great time to give back to those that are dear to you."

However the senior coach stresses that first and foremost, for everyone remain safe during the holiday period.

"But the most important thing to all supporters is to keep safe, and don't put yourself in a position where you're going to be exposed to dangers," Malthouse said.

"I think all of us want to be here next year, supporting one of the 18 football sides, or another sport – whatever it may be.

"Enjoy Christmas, but most of all have a great New Year and a safe one."
