2014 proved an important year for Davey Ellard, with the small forward notching his 50th AFL game during Round 18.

Embarking on his 7th season at Visy Park, the 25-year-old is working hard ahead of the Blues' upcoming training camp at Mount Buller.

We caught up with Ellard towards the end of a very long day on the track.

What's the best part of pre-season training?
To finally be reunited with the boys and working hard towards the upcoming season.

What's the hardest part of pre-season training?
The long days and large training loads. They are challenging but rewarding at the same time.

What do you eat for breakfast before training?
At the moment I'm having three slices of avocado and vegimite on toast. I also have a bowl of all-bran with banana and honey.

What food do you miss the most during the season?
Probably pizza.

How do you relax after a full-day of training?
I'm really enjoying a couple of TV series at the moment, particularly Sons of Anarchy and True Detective

What music are you listening to at the moment?
Im not really a music-head. I'll listen to anything. It's actually my turn to be in charge of the play list in the gym next week – so it might get interesting! But really… I have no idea about music. I leave that to blokes like Whitey (Simon White) and Belly (Tom Bell) who think they're up-to-date with everything.

Are you reading anything at the moment?
Yes. I've nearly finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.
