Curnow earns Rising Star nomination

Carlton young gun Charlie Curnow has been named the Round 16 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. 

Curnow played a key role in the Blues' eight-point loss to Melbourne over the weekend, recording 19 disposals, two goals and a game-high 10 score involvements.

He becomes the Blues' fifth Rising Star nominee this season, following in the footsteps of Caleb Marchbank, Sam Petrevski-Seton, David Cuningham and Jack Silvagni.

Joining older brother Ed at Ikon Park via pick No.12 in the 2015 national draft, Curnow impressed on debut against Sydney in Round 2 last year.

Playing state level under-18 football with the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup, Curnow shone as a strong forward with 14 goals over eight games, averaging 15 disposals with a 71 per cent efficiency.

With his 2016 season interrupted by a knee injury and a bout of galndular fever, Curnow has enjoyed a strong start to his career, recoding 15 goals from 20 games.

Curnow spent his junior football career with the Torquay Tigers in the AFL Barwon competition. 

Following each round of the home-and-away season, a panel of judges selects a NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. At the completion of the season, one of these nominees will be chosen as the 2017 NAB AFL Rising Star. 

The 2017 NAB AFL Rising Star winner will be awarded the Ron Evans Medal, a $20,000 personal investment folio and a dedicated personal banker, courtesy of NAB.
