Carlton’s VFL affiliate, the Northern Blues, have taken the initiative of partnering The Leukaemia Foundation as their 2013 charity sponsor.

Kicking off the partnership, the Northern Blues will participate in the World’s Greatest Shave 2013, running from March 14 to 17.

“We are aiming to raise $3.5 million in Victoria and we encourage supporters and fans of the Northern Blues and Carlton to take part at home, work or school,” Northern Blues Coach Luke Webster said

Webster is just one of many figures within the Northern Blues, both staff and players, participating in the World’s Greatest Shave and aiming to reach a minimum target of $5,000.

Players including Blues’ captain Andre Gianfagna as well as 2012 State VFL Representative Adam Marcon and Jacob Ballard will be warming the chair underneath the sound of the clippers.

“With the Club itself having been touched by personal experiences and the Leukaemia Foundation recently moving their offices close to us in Preston, the partnership makes perfect sense,” Northern Blues’ General Manager Garry O’Sullivan said.

“There is a strong element of pride in supporting a cause aimed at helping the lives of leukaemia sufferers.”

The event is set to take place on the weekend of March 14-17 with details available soon via northernbluesfc.com.au.

In the meantime, both the Northern Blues and Carlton Football Clubs urges its members and supporters to jump online to the World’s Greatest Shave page online at my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/northernblues to support the members of the Club.
