IT’S not the start we hoped for at Etihad Stadium, with the Blues trailing the Suns by 27 points at the main break.

The Curnow brothers have made a big impact for Carlton. Charlie is our leading goal kicker (2), while Ed has put in an enormous effort in the first two terms, with a match-high 19 disposals.

FIRST QUARTER

The Blues only managed one major, kicked by co vice-captain Patrick Cripps, to Gold Coast's five goal start.

Captain Marc Murphy led Carlton for disposals (9) in the first term.

The Suns led by 28 points at quarter time.

SECOND QUARTER

Unfortunately, the 28-point gap was only closed by a point in the second term, although the Blues looked more confident.

The first major of the second quarter belonged to Carlton, as Fisher put through a much needed goal.

Charlie Curnow soon followed with his first for the day.

Unfortunately, Gold Coast responded with two consecutive majors of their own.

Charlie Curnow became our leading goal kicker, putting through his second, and the Blues' fourth for the day.

Again, the Suns responded with another major.

The score is Carlton 4.4 (28) to Gold Coast 8.7(55) at half time.
