Under Brendon Bolton, it has been well documented that there would be no quick fixes when the Blues underwent their latest ‘reset’ at the arrival of the new coach to the Club.

Achieving long-term sustainable success is a key priority of the Carlton Football Club, and with coach Bolton and GM List Management Stephen Silvagni, the Blues have a clear focus on securing, and developing young talent over the coming years to do so.

Recruiting an exciting crop of youngsters since Bolton’s arrival, Carlton has looked to lock away the future, recently offering Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and first year players Sam Petrevski-Seton and Zac Fisher new contract extensions.

Arguably one of the most exciting young players to arrive at Ikon Park in recent years, Petrevski-Seton will remain a Blue until at least the end of 2021 after he was drafted at Pick 6 in the 2016 National Draft.

Having played all 10 games this season, the former bull-rider is fast becoming a fan-favourite amongst the Bluebagger army. In a near, best-on-ground performance against Collingwood in Round 7, Blues supporters were delighted when Petrevski-Seton notched up 22 disposals, 10 contested possessions, three clearances, three tackles and two goals.

Fellow West Australian Fisher has also put pen to paper, signing a two-year deal that will see him remain in the navy blue until at least the end of 2020. The small, explosive speedster was Carlton’s second round selection in the same draft class as Petrevski-Seton and has since played six senior games for the Blues this season.

Growing in confidence on field in 2017, Curnow has been rewarded for a promising campaign so far this season, signing on for a further two-years with the Blues. Displaying exciting athleticism and power and building on his six games in his debut year, the 20-year-old kicked two goals from 17 disposals in last week’s loss to North Melbourne.

While yet to make his senior debut, 19-year-old key forward Harry McKay has committed to the Blues for a further two years, tying him to the Club until at least the end of 2019. McKay was the Blues’ first-round pick in the 2015 National Draft and is building on impressive form with the Northern Blues over recent weeks.

In further good news for the Blues, bigman Andrew Phillips and utility Ed Curnow have also agreed to new two-year contracts with the Blues.

“These six re-signings reaffirm the positive path we are on as a club and the belief the playing group have in our direction led by Brendon as coach and Marc as captain,” Head of Football Andrew McKay said.

“While individually there is a lot of improvement to come, there’s no doubt our supporters should be excited about the calibre of young talent we have acquired over the past two seasons.”
