The Northern Blues Schools Program and Multicultural Schools Program were launched last week.

Both programs involve experiencing the game through clinics, meeting inspirational leaders/players and utilising AFL educational resources to further schooling outcomes.


Northern Blues Schools Program

The Northern Blues Schools Program is a new 6 week program named in celebration of the recent name change of the Northern Bullants to the Northern Blues.

The program is a school-based health & physical education initiative that aims to promote the game of Australian Football among primary level students. The program is conducted in schools in and around the Preston area - in close proximity to the Preston City Oval.

Schools participating include Pascoe Vale Primary, St Joseph’s Primary, St Pius Primary, Australian International Academy, Preston West Primary, Preston Primary, St Joseph’s the Worker Primary, Bundoora Primary, Westgarth Primary and Reservoir East Primary.
 
The weekly themes are teamwork, leadership, respect, exercise & healthy eating and harmony.


Multicultural Program


The Multicultural Program is in its fourth year and aims to engage students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Using Australian football as a vehicle, the Multicultural Program facilitates in assisting newly arrived migrants and refugees to further social, nutritional/physical and educational outcomes.

Schools include Carlton Primary, Antonine College, Australian International Academy, Our Lady’s help of Christians primary, Brunswick South West Primary, Kingswood College, Meadow Heights primary School and St. Raphael’s

The Club's multicultural player ambassadors for 2012 are Ed Curnow, Jeffrey Garlett, Zach Tuohy and Nick Duigan.
