When the final siren sounded on Saturday afternoon against Collingwood, Carlton recorded three wins in a row for the first time since 2013 and moved up to 12th spot on the AFL ladder.

Speaking to SEN on Tuesday, Blues CEO Steven Trigg says it was a “fantastic” day for Bluebaggers across the country.

“It was great for Carlton people everywhere to get a third win in a row obviously on the weekend, and to do so over the traditional arch-enemy was fantastic,” Trigg said.

“I must admit for someone who’s been at Carlton for 18 months, I certainly felt what it meant to beat Collingwood, so it was a fantastic day for us.”

Although the Blues are aiming for four wins in a row this week against Port Adelaide, the CEO reiterated the Club knows there is still a “long, long way to go” in terms of its development.

“We talk about being on a journey and that journey will always have highs and lows,” he said.

“Right at the moment we’ve found a nice little patch, but it doesn’t change anything in terms of the longer-term horizon, which I’m sure our supporters understand.

“We’ll take it (the wins) while we can but we know there’s still a long, long way to go.”

As a football club, Trigg emphasised every time the players run through the banner and over the white line, their main focus is to improve, learn and grow.

“We’re just trying to grow as a footy club and as a team every time we hit the park, that’s the task at the moment, every time we play to try and improve, and so far we’ve been pretty pleased with the way that’s gone.

“The way they (the players) are going about their training and their work during the week and what they’re putting out on the park at the moment, win or lose is very pleasing.”

This weekend’s match against Port Adelaide also marks Kade Simpson’s 250th game, a player Trigg has an “enormous” amount of respect for.

“In my relatively short time, I’ve been so impressed with his preparation, his leadership…he’s a great thinker and all of our supporters should be very pleased with what he and the rest of the leadership group are doing at the moment.”

To celebrate Simpson’s 250th game, the Club is offering a special edition #Simmo250 membership. For more details, click here.
