It turns out one of Carlton’s cheeky Irishman Ciaran ‘Casey’ Bryne is not only a natural at lawn bowls, but he’s also not bad with a set of golf clubs.

Last Thursday afternoon was Carlton’s corporate golf day, which was sponsored by Ikon Services, and there was no doubt Casey was the best-performing Blue.

A group of 72 headed down to Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club, including past and present Carlton players, club officials and sponsors.

Patrick Cripps, Michael Jamison, Ciaran Byrne and Bryce Gibbs, along with Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay, Craig Bradley and Heath Scotland were just a few of the players to brush up on their swing.

The Blues’ cheersquad sponsor Smash took out the competition, while assistant coach Dale Amos, Patrick Cripps and Jason Harbinson from Smash won nearest to the pin.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay says the golf day was a good chance for players and coaches to give back to our sponsors who support the club.

“It’s a great opportunity for the football department to show our appreciation to our sponsors and corporate partners,” McKay said.

“It’s a wonderful environment for players to build relationships with those who are just as passionate about the club as we are.”

Once the competition had finished, everyone enjoyed dinner back at the clubhouse.
