A young Blue has joined Carlton's growing injury list with Jayden Foster ruled out for the rest of the season.

Foster, who has been playing with the Northern Blues since being recruited with a fourth-round pick in last year's draft, has suffered stress reactions in both feet.

Head of Football Andrew McKay says Foster will avoid surgery and just needs to rest.

"He started to get a little bit sore last week, so we scanned them (his feet) late last week and withdrew him from the Northern Blues game," McKay said.

"What it does do is gives him the chance to completely heal before pre-season, so we're looking for a big pre-season from Jayden and a bigger and better 2016."

But in better news for the Blues, Jason Tutt is expected to be available for selection for Saturday night's clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.

Tutt had been due to line up for the Northern Blues last week but missed the match with an ankle injury.

And young defender Cameron Giles is poised to play his first game in 16 months after overcoming a stress fracture in his foot.

Giles will line up for the development side ahead of the Northern Blues game on Sunday.
