Carlton President Stephen Kernahan will lead the Club through its historic 150th year after the Board officially ratified his tenure.

Kernahan will step down at the end of 2014, his likely successor is expected to be either Ryan Trainor or Mark LoGiudice, who were voted as joint Vice Presidents at tonight’s Board meeting, along with Carlton Patron Jeanne Pratt.

A former Carlton captain, Carlton Life Member and veteran of 251 games, Kernahan has been at the helm of the Blues since June 2008, after taking over from Richard Pratt.

The Blues’ President says it will be an honour to continue serving Carlton through such an important milestone in the Club’s rich history.

“It is a privilege to lead such a proud football club and I look forward to working with the board and senior management to build on the momentum we have established, especially in the last 12 months,” Kernahan said.

“This is a united board with great experience and expertise in a vast array of fields, and I am honoured that the board wanted to me to lead us into next season.”

Newly elected Vice President Ryan Trainor has been on Carlton’s Board since October 2012, and brings a wealth of business experience to the role. An entrepreneur, Trainor has built a number of companies including founding Franklyn Scholar, Australia’s largest private workforce education business.

Trainor is joined by Mark LoGiudice, a lifelong Carlton supporter and the Managing Director of Crawfords Group, a family owned investment and development company. Mark is also a Director of Premier Fruits Group, a national farming, marketing and logistics company.
