Carlton has secured goal-kicking midfielder Sam Kerridge from the Crows, along with draft pick 28, in exchange for Troy Menzel.

Carlton will on-trade selection 28 in a separate deal with Greater Western Sydney.

Since making his debut in Round 3, 2012 v Hawthorn, Kerridge has played 27 AFL games and kicked 23 goals. The 22-year-old was recruited with Adelaide’s first pick in the 2011 National Draft and in 2013 earned a Rising Star nomination.

Carlton’s General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says the acquisition of another second-round pick paves the way to bring in more young talent.

“Receiving pick 28 from Adelaide gives us real flexibility to further strengthen our playing stocks and draft position before the trade period concludes.” Silvagni said.

“We’re also rapt to add Kerridge to our list – he’s a really hard competitor and has great character. We’re looking forward to having him at the Blues.

“This trade also allows Troy to return home and we wish him well in the future.”
