The anxious wait is almost over for AFL hopefuls, with the 2013 AFL Draft getting underway tonight on the Gold Coast.

Carlton will use three of its allocated selections: picks 13, 39 and 51.

Blues coach Mick Malthouse says it's a big night, and he's looking forward to securing some fresh talent.

"This is the night of nights, it's the grand final for the draft," Malthouse said.

"We will pick the best player at number 13 that we can; no particular type of player just what we believe to be the best player."

Blues National Recruiting Manager Shane Rogers says it's still unclear who will be available come time for Carlton's first pick at selection 13.

But he says whoever is selected will be the best fit for the team.

"Really excited about tonight, we're going to get three really good players," Rogers said. "With a bit of luck, they will be great players for Carlton in the future."

Stay tuned to the Carlton website, we'll have updates on the draft throughout the night.
