You’d be forgiven for having a case of déjà vu this Sunday.

The Blues play on the same day, at the same time, at the same location – but when the final siren sounds, hopefully it’s a different result!

Back at the MCG for the third week in a row, Carlton will be striving to come out on top against the West Coast Eagles.

After a disappointing loss to Adelaide last Sunday, the Blues will once again be put to the test when they take on another top-eight team.

The Eagles, who are coming off a 32-point win over North Melbourne, will be looking to win away from a home – a feat they’ve struggled with this year.

Fronting the media on Friday, Carton coach Brendon Bolton says his players are well aware they face a big challenge, but will use the match as a chance to grow and develop – win, lose or draw.

“Most games are tough and we know West Coast are last year’s grand finalists, so it’s going to be a huge contest,” Bolton said.

“We look at teams that have been in the eight and played in finals as a real opportunity to grow.

“It’s a great chance to benchmark more than anything, I look at this game as a benchmarking game because they were grand finalists last year and we can learn from it, win lose or draw.”

Out of the 41 times these two sides have played, only once have they met at the MCG. That match was all the way back in 1999 for a semi-final, where the Blues came out on top 18.16.124 to the Eagles' 10.10.70.

West Coast midfielder and Brownlow Medallist, Matt Priddis, says the Eagles will be up for the fight at the ‘G.

“Carlton beat Geelong a few weeks back, so there’s no way we’ll be taking anyone lightly,” Priddis said.

“It’s such an even competition you have to bring your best effort every week to get the result.”

The Blues have made four changes to its team this week, with Dylan Buckley, Kristian Jaksch, Nick Graham and Charlie Curnow making their way back into the side. Thomas (calf) and Walker (knee) will miss due to injury, while Casboult has been sidelined through suspension and Everitt has been omitted.

Meanwhile, West Coast has recalled Jack Redden for Lewis Jetta.

And don’t forget this Sunday Carlton players will be running out in orange socks to raise awareness for the Club's family violence prevention initiative, CARLTON RESPECTS. Everyone attending the game is urged to do the same and wear some orange to support the cause! Click here for more information.
