He's only been back training for three days, but Carlton hard-man Tom Bell is already impressing.

The 22-year-old, who has recently been upgraded to Carlton's primary list, is a few kilograms lighter than this time last year.

It's showing on the park, with Bell one of the fastest among the Blues' young guns in the team's running drills this week.

We caught up with Bell to find out what he's been up to during the break, and what lies ahead in the coming months.

What was the highlight of your two-month break?
Probably visiting Cancun in Mexico with a few of the guys last month. I also went surfing in Bali with my dad and my brother, so it was great to get in a couple of overseas trips.

How have you found being back at training this week?
The first day was pretty tough – we did heaps of running! But it has been great being back at the Club and getting back into the swing of things.

Have you managed to spend much time with our new High Performance Manager, David Buttifant?
Yes and he's been great. He's brought heaps of knowledge and experience with him. I really look forward to working with him next year.

The Arizona training camp is less than two weeks away. What are you most looking forward to about the trip?
I can't wait for all the hiking and mountain climbing. It's going to be a challenge, but we've all been working pretty hard.

If you were to give any advice on how to prepare for Arizona, what would it be?
Remember to pack warm clothing! Definitely no singlets or board shorts.

Who are you hoping NOT to sit next to during the flight there?
Probably Mitch Robinson; I like to sleep on long-haul flights and I reckon Robbo would talk the entire way!
