There's speculation Carlton could take on Collingwood in a Sunday night football experiment next season.

The Herald Sun is reporting the clash could take place at 7.40pm on Sunday 29 June, as one of three Sunday night prime-time matches to be trialled next year.

The Blues are expected to play the Pies twice next season, with return clashes also expected against Essendon, Hawthorn and Geelong.

But there's likely to be just the one match against Richmond, and instead of opening the season it will take place in Round 2, with the MCG unavailable in Round 1 due to the season's early start.

The AFL is still finalising its 2014 fixture, which is due to be released on Thursday.
