The Northern Bullants have lowered their colours at home to North Ballarat, in what was a disappointing fourth quarter finale at Visy Park.

Just five points separated both teams at the main change, in what was an evenly fought contest. Regrettably the Roosters banged on 12 second half goals to the Ants’ six to run out comfortable 44-point winners, 21.9 (135) to 14.7 (91).

At three quarter-time, Bullants Coach Darren Harris took the liberty to remind his players to get the basics right to have any chance of wresting control from their opponents, and while an early final quarter goal to Tyson Thomas was just the tonic, it only served to precipitate a North Ballarat goalkicking avalanche.

For the Ants, Ahmed Saad booted three second half goals to finish with four, together with the team’s other multiple goalkicker Ash Arrowsmith. Seasoned campaigner Adam Iacobucci also flew the flag, with Wayde Twomey and Marcus Davies amongst the better performers.

With 13 rounds now done and dusted, the Bullants remain in third place on the VFL Table - one game clear of Bendigo Bombers but with an inferior percentage - as they prepare for Sunday’s match with the second-placed Williamstown at Preston City Oval.
