Two players have been rule out of the side for the match against Essendon through injury while the match committee has made a further change to the side that went down to Collingwood by 19-points at the MCG last Saturday.

Paul Bower injured his calf at training during the week and has been rule out of the important match against Essendon at the MCG on Saturday night. He joins Aaron Joseph, who injured his hamstring in last Saturday’s match, out of the side due to injury while Matthew Watson has returned to the VFL after the one game in the senior side.

Dennis Armfield, who has played eight games this season, the last being in round 14 against West Coast, has been recalled to the team. Zach Tuohy has also been recalled after missing the last two matches, having previously played five in a row after making his debut in round 11. Also coming into the team for his first game in 2011 is Marcus Davies who played five games in 2010, including the semi-final against the Sydney Swans in Sydney.

Davies made his AFL debut against Essendon at the MCG in round 19 last year when the Blues enjoyed a 75-point victory over the Bombers on a Friday night in early August.

Kade Simpson will play his 150th game on Saturday night.
